Florence B Dearing Museum and Hartland Area Historical Society
Participate in Heritage Day September 20, 2008

On Heritage Day, the Florence B. Dearing Museum was alive with activity, both inside the museum and on the lawn. Inside the museum Black Sheep Weavers Fiber Guild members, Nadine Cloutier, Darlene Gould-Murray , and Annette Shaffer demonstrated weaving, knitting, and rug hooking. On loan from HAHS trustee, Mike Forster, cylinder and disc music boxes were playing melodious music. On display were all entrants in the Hartland Area Historical Society's photo contest. Winners were announced on Heritage Day. Trustee, Hildy Foley and her grand-daughter Jackie Spezia opened the new Post Office exhibit and handed out coloring books about the postal service to all the children visiting the musuem. On the lawn were tractors, pedal cars and old farm machinery. Trustee, Scott Kulsavage, gave wagon tours of the village. Down the street trustee, Shyrl Ann Cone, taught in a one-room school. The exterior of the museum was decorated for fall. In front of the museum, a sign was posted giving thanks to the contractors and major contributors involved with the Florence B. Dearing Museum Restoration Project.
