There are a number of ways that you can get involved with the Hartland Area Historical Society, and stay informed on what will be happening in the future.

Become a Member - The Hartland Area Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the heritage and history of the Hartland area and educating the community about it through the maintenance and operation of the Florence B. Dearing Museum. Through the years, both individuals and groups have supported the Society's work. Scouts, Questers, Jaycees, local area businesses, and students have all made significant contributions to keep Hartland's history alive. People, through community involvement,  help to continue the work of Florence B. Dearing and the Hartland Area Historical Society. Membership activities include organizing and displaying the museum collections, maintaining the building and grounds, keeping the museum open to the public, guiding group tours as trained docents, and raising funds to continue the work of the Society. Any interested person is eligible for membership, which can be obtained by payment of annual dues . There are three membership catagories, individual, family, and business. Individual Memberships are $10.00 a year, Family Memberships includes all family members residing at one address, and is $15.00 annually. Business Memberships are $50.00. Here is a printable membership application, and the HAHS by-laws, which explains in detail the member voting rights of each level of membership. The general membership elects the Board of Trustess every year at the Annual Meeting in May.

Volunteer - HAHS is always looking for individuals who want to get involved. The Florence B. Dearing is open two days a week, and docents are needed to assist visitors while touring the museum. Docents are volunteers who answer questions, point out items of interest and help out museum visitors for the two hours the museum is open on Sundays or Wednesdays. If you are interested in becoming a docent, please contact Hildy Foley, the HAHS President at 810-229-7621.

Attend - Come to an event. The Hartland Area Historical Society has something going on all the time. In addition to our monthly meeting that takes place the second Monday of every month, at 7 p.m. in the FB Dearing Museum, we also have other social events that anyone can attend and get aquainted with the organization. Ice Cream Socials, Memorial Day, Heritage Day, pot lucks, and our Annual Gala and Annual Meeting in May are advertised in our newsletter and are on our Calendar page. If you would like to automatically be included in any updates to events, please submit your email address here. If you are on Facebook, you can also join the Hartland Area Historical Society Facebook Group.
